Finally some real food

We couldn't put off feeding Eric solid food any longer. He is feeling better and his appetite has returned. His pediatrician wants him to eat vegetables before fruits so we are starting him out on carrots. Yum!
Please sir, may I have a little more? Eric did really good and didn't spit (too much).
There was a dusting of snow today. Talk about crazy Texas weather. Wednesday's high temperature was in the upper 70's and today is below freezing. Weird. The boys keep asking if we will have a white Christmas. I highly doubt it.



Nick was hoping to have a lot of snow when he woke up Thursday morning for school. There was a little freezing rain and snow, but nothing serious. As is typical, people tend to over react when the weather turns cold and icy. Nicholas said that there were 14 kids absent from his class. The thing is the roads in the area weren't slick. When I went to pick up Nick from school it started to snow and the song Let it snow was playing on the radio. Nicholas and Carter were very excited about playing in snow when we got home.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

On Sunday the boys had fun decorating the Christmas tree. Carter likes to mess with the lights. We have two strands of light that you can change the effects. Sometimes the top is flashing and the bottom one isn't. The boys think we have the best Christmas tree ever.

Aaron did a really good job putting up the Christmas lights.

I found this neat musical snow globe that plays 11 Christmas songs and blows snow up the north pole. The boys love it! In the evenings we like to turn off all the lights except the Christmas lights and have the snow globe on. It's very soothing just to watch the lights and listen to the music.

Eric took a nice nap with Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Eric is starting to feel better but Aaron is getting worse. Hopefully, this weekend he will just sleep and rest.
Tonight we finally cleaned out our garage. The weather is suppose to get really cold on Thursday and we need to put my car in the garage. Well, we can scratch that off our to do list. Let's see what's left to do: make candy advent calendar for the boys, do Christmas cards, wrap 25 Christmas books , help with the Christmas party for Nicholas classroom, make Christmas goodies for friends/neighbors, finish the Christmas shopping and have the presents wrapped before Christmas Eve. Piece of cake, I can finish this list in no time. Yeah right, who am I kidding. It's time to STRESS!! Oh, Buddy the Elf comes and visit us this Friday, Dec. 1st. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I love Christmas music.

Last Week Fall Break II

Last week Nick and Carter were off from school for Fall Break II. Nicholas' friend Shaun came over to our house to play soccer and Playstation. Shaun lives on the same street seven houses down from us and we didn't even know it until last month. They both play on the same soccer team and are in the same 2nd grade class at Bluebonnet Elementary. They seem to have a good time together.
Carter has a new friend. Shaun's little brother Zane just turned three and loves playing with cars, just like Carter. They also have a little baby sister named Emily that is 8 months old. We've been taking turns having the boys play at each others' house. Their mom Rebecca seems like a really nice person. I look forward to getting to know her better and having Eric play with Emily soon. She's a cute baby.

On Friday Nick hung out with his cousins and went to see the movie "Happy Feet" with them. Alex and Phillip kept mimicing the lines from the movie. I thought of Jason at that moment. They said the movie was funny. Carter couldn't go because he had a doctors appointment. We took Eric and Carter to the park later that day. He likes riding on the frog.
The weather has been really nice. Carter likes to go outside and pretend to cut the grass. Check out his thumbs up. His friend Jonas got him started on the thumbs up. How cute is that?

Here is Eric on one of his better days from last week. We got the Megasaucer for Carter when he was a baby. Now Eric can enjoy it too. We took Eric and Carter to the doctor for a follow up on Friday. Good news, Carter is over his strep/bronchitis. Eric still has RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). Last Sunday he was starting to feel better. Then Thursday his nose started to run and he had a nasty cough (Aaron calls it a "Poppy Cough"). The doctor decided to give him his shots for his 4 month check-up that he didn't get a couple of weeks ago. He weighed 14 pounds and 24 1/2 inches long. Since being sick he has lost 4 ounces. We are doing breathing treatments for him several times daily and using the booger sucker. Eric doesn't like it and I don't either. I'm very thankful to have such good friends and family who have called to check up on the boys and offered to help out with anything. They know I'm not much for asking for help but this time I did. THANK YOU!!! I've talked to some of my friends who's kids have had RSV. It really has helped me feel better to know that we are doing the things they did. Aaron has been WONDERFUL!!! He has help me take care of Eric when I needed a break.

Eric didn't have a great weekend. He ran a fever Friday night through most of Saturday (most likely due to the shots). He didn't have much of an appetite and when he did eat it wasn't much at all. He didn't sleep at night and wanted to be held constantly. You know even though he is not feeling well he always seems to have a smile for us. Aaron and I feel so badly for him when he is coughing and congested and wish we could be sick in his place. The doctor has said it is an annoying virus and can make the baby and parents uncomfortable for weeks. Please keep him in your prayers.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving !! Today we went to my sister PJ's house for a Thanksgiving meal. She prepared a wonderful spread of turkey and ham with all the trimmings. PJ is a very good cook and had obviously spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Her efforts were appreciated and a good time was had by all.

Eric is always happy to see Grandma Medeiros.

Here is a shot of the Kids' table. Thomas finished his first plate and was looking for seconds before the adults even sat down. Yes, that is turkey and mashed potatoes on Carter's and Nick's plate. And they ate every bit! Eric was a little disappointed as all he got to eat was some lousy formula.

The kids enjoyed setting up and decorating the Christmas tree.

I'm thankful to have such loving parents. I love my Mom & Dad so much. And I love this picture of them.

Christmas ornaments

Yesterday Aaron and I got the boys their Christmas ornaments. Eric has the Baby's First Christmas which lets me put a photo of him inside it. He seems to like it.

Nick got Anakin Skywalker, Yoda and Asajj Ventress from the "Star Wars: Clone Wars" movie.

Carter has Lightning McQueen and Mater from the "Cars" movie.

Last night Aaron and I went to a Japanese restaurant called Cowtown Sushi. It was unexpectedly nice inside. Aaron had a good time ordering some of his favorites. For the appetizer he ordered for us edamamae (boiled soy beans) and gyoza (fried dumplings). It was good. I am not as skilled as Aaron on chopsticks so the waitress brought me "kiddie" chopsticks. The sticks are held together with a rubber band and it is kinda like eating with a pair of tongs. Aaron then ordered his main dish, Unagi (BBQ eel) on a bed of rice. Yes, I did taste it and it wasn't so bad. But I stuck with the delicious California rolls. The service and food was very good. We plan on going back there again for their Soba noodle soup when the weather turns cold.

4 Months Old

Today Eric is 4 months old. He has been such a happy and playful baby. He is doing well on tummy time. He is noticing objects and reaching out for them. Eric has been sleeping through the night, about 8 hours (which means I'm sleeping more yea). He loves sleeping in his crib. When he wakes up in the morning he coos and jabbers for a while before he starts the "Mommy come here" cry.

Eric has been drooling quite a bit. It won't be long before there are teeth in that mouth of his. He likes to chew on his hands more than he likes chewing on his toys.

Update on the boys

Pssst....Mom is not going to believe our story if you don't wipe that guilty look off your face.

Carter was diagnosed with strep last Friday and was unable to make it to the final game of the season. Today Carter received his participation trophy. Go Bluebirds!! We are all very proud of Carter's first trophy.

This Saturday was Nicholas' final soccer game of the season. Here is Coach Ortiz giving the Cruizers a pep talk prior to kickoff. As Nicholas was sick this week with strep and bronchitis he wasn't feeling 100%. He lasted about six minutes out on the field then asked to be pulled from the game. The poor guy was short of breath and spent the rest of the game on the sideline. The game was very exciting and ended in a 2-2 tie.

Pajama Day!

Today was pajama day for us. We stayed home and relaxed with the kids. Oh, and Friday we took the boys to go see "Flushed Away". That was a very good movie. We highly recommend it. Nick said it was "sooooooo good and funny!"

Eric just woke up from his nap. The little guy is growing like a weed.

Aaron took Carter to the doctor Friday because he was complaining about a sore throat. Sure enough, he has strep. Poor Carter, he had to miss his last soccer game on Saturday. Plus he couldn't go to his friend Jonas' birthday party. The doctor told Carter not to give any hugs or kisses to baby Eric. That was very hard for him. He loves and adores Eric so much. We had to keep telling him not to touch him until tomorrow (Sunday). Aaron made us a batch of his YUMMY chocolate chip toffee cookies. Can you tell that Carter is feeling much better?

Nick built a house out of his lego's.

Nick read the book "Mummies in the Morning" to his Dad. I caught Aaron dosing off. Ha, ha!!
