Fun at the Park

The weather is turning cooler so we can now enjoy the park without sweating a ton. The boys (especially Eric) really like playing outdoors.

Family Get Together

This month the family get together was held at the Michaels. We enjoyed looking at all the home improvement projects they have completed and seeing Michael's new Honda Pilot. The dinner was delicious and a good time was had by all. We certainly missed seeing the Hills, but they were in Florida enjoying Disney World.

Here Uncle Michael is teaching his nephews the fine art of eating the icing off the cupcakes. Corgan enjoyed his cupcake so much he saved some on his cheek for later.

Happy Birthday Kelly

We celebrated a belated birthday for baby sister Kelly. She is such a good sport. Her older brother (claimed to be favorite) Michael brought out a set of buck teeth for Kelly to wear for her photo. Note Corgan's expression to his mother's dental work. Also note Caiden's look of glee and amusement.
Kelly could hardly keep it together. The teeth didn't fit quite right and she would smile, stop and make what looked like a gag trying to keep the teeth in her mouth laughing all the while.
Hmmm, Corgan and Eric seem to be plotting something. Those boys sure like eating cake.

Families

Michael Tom suggested that we get some family photos while we were at the get together.

Rainy Day

Yesterday was a rainy day. We stayed home. I didn't have to pick Nick up from school because my friend and I are carpooling. I take the kids to school in the mornings and she picks them up after school. I put the blinds up so Eric could watch the rain outside. So, how's the weather?He looked out the window for quite a while. It's kinda soothing to watch the rain fall down. Then he took a nice long nap.
Carter was watching Star Wars. He is giving you the peace sign.I taught him the peace sign a couple of days ago and now he has been doing it a lot. What a COOL kid.

Now Eric wants to wear the sunglasses and look cool just like his big brother.

It was a nice relaxing day. I was able to read my book. I belong to two book clubs and look forward to getting together with the group to discuss the books.

Fun Weekend

Friday night we had my parents and their friends from Florida over for dinner. I love this picture of them together. The next day I went to Kohl's and bought a frame to put this picture in for them to take home. The frame was black and had the word "Friends" on it in silver. I also got one for my parents. They all loved it! Noi and Terry are so awesome just like my parents.September the 10th is actually Terry's birthday, but we surprise him with a birthday cake after dinner. It was fun visiting with them. We made his favorite dish spaghetti and meatballs. He loves chocolate cake. Terry was very SURPRISED!!! Happy Birthday Terry!

Girls Day Out

Saturday was girls day out. Noi and Terry last day with us in Texas. Terry is a huge college football fan. My Dad and Terry stayed home to watch the games that afternoon. The girls went out for some fun! We went to a Thai restaurant in Hurst and it was soooo good. Thanks for recommending this place PJ. Yeah, Thomas came long for lunch but then had to go to a friends birthday party. After lunch we went to the Mall to do some shopping. We then went to Barnes & Nobles and Kohl's. On the way home I had to take Noi to QT. My Mom and Noi got the icy coffee. I got a nice cold cherry Slurpee. My kids and I go to QT at least once or twice a week.
We had so much fun that day. I like to thank my wonderful husband for watching the kids while I was out all day. Our dryer belt broke and Aaron replaced it all by himself. Well, Eric did help out his Dad a little. Aaron also did the laundry and put away the clothes for me. Isn't he great?! I'm so lucky and blessed to have a awesome husband who takes good care of me.

Family Friends

On Labor Day we spent the evening at my folks. Some friends of my Mom and Dad stopped by for a visit on their drive from Las Vegas to their home in Florida. Mom and Dad became friends with Noi and Terry while Dad and Terry were stationed in Thailand. (My, that was over thirty years ago). There friendship continued after both families transferred to Japan. Noi and Terry have three daughters about the same ages as my sisters and me.

Here are the two Air Force buddies. The boys enjoyed spending time with their cousins (and their cousins toys). Thomas, Philip and Alex all went to a Japanese Anime/Cartoon Expo in Dallas. While there the boys bought a couple of wooden swords. Nicholas and Carter think their cousins are pretty cool.
Here is the high schooler Thomas and his 8th grader brother Philip. Have I told you that Eric really likes watermelon? Grandpa was impressed by how excited Eric gets when the watermelon is being cut.

Pssst. You don't have to eat with your hands. You might be able to convince someone to feed you.
Yep. Grandma's are always spoiling the little one. Nope. He isn't full yet.

First Day at Preschool

Today was Carter's first day of pre-school. This is the second year that he has attended school at Ms. Becki's. We've noticed that Carter is counting to himself more, spelling his name and reciting the alphabet. He is so excited to start going to school like his older brother.

While Nicholas and Carter were at school, Eric was king of the castle. The king took a pretty long nap this afternoon and woke up with some serious bed head. Eric has been playing with tools and cooking utensils. Either he can not decide whether he wants to be a chef or a mechanic, or his cooking is so bad it takes a hammer to eat it.

Labor Day Fireworks!

Every 4th of July our neighborhood has a community firework show. This year the event was postponed until Labor Day due to the heavy rains and flooding in July. The weather Saturday evening was perfect with cooler temperatures and a slight breeze.

Brakes......

The brakes were making noise so Aaron jacked up the front end and proceeded to do a full tear down of the front brakes. Aaron prefers to do all the brake work on our cars 1) because it is cheaper if he does it, and 2) he had an awful experience with "Just Brakes" when we were first married.

Aaron can do the brake job rather quickly especially when he has a little help from his boys. Some are more happy to help than others. That is quite the look there Nicholas.
Eric was really excited to help Aaron.
Um, Eric....I think Dad is looking for that.

2007-2008 School Year

Today is the first day of school in Texas. The school year is starting later this year so Nicholas enjoyed an extra two weeks of staying up late, sleeping in and playing video games. It has been a busy summer but when asked he said that he was ready for school to start. We'll see what he says about school in a couple of weeks. It is really hard to believe that he will be in the 3rd grade this year. We are so proud of him and he is growing up to be a fine young man.

Triplets?

Saturday evening we went to the Cole's for our monthly family get together. Tammie had purchased matching t-shirts for the boys. Aren't they cute? Yes UL, Eric is sans shoes (Texas style). We've learned that sometimes it is just easier to let the boy go without rather than fight him to put shoes that will only stay on for about 2 minutes.

Saturday morning Tammie and I took Carter and Nicholas to a movie they have been bugging us to go see. To be honest, the movie was quite enjoyable. My favorite scene in the movie is when Mr. Bean is gagging his way through a seafood platter. Made me think of my mother and how queasy she gets when I eat seafood (cooked or not). Carter has been running around singing "Mr. Bombastic" which is a song that Mr. Bean dances to in the film. The boys give this movie two thumbs up.

She Did It!

Today was a very special day for my family. My mother went through the Naturalization Oath Ceremony and became a U.S. Citizen. We were all so proud of her accomplishment. The ceremony took place in Dallas and she was one of approximately 125 going through the process. It was a neat experience to listen to the oath that these people made and pledge allegiance to this great country of ours. I was so happy that my kids were there to witness their grandmother become a citizen.
After the two hour ceremony (despite what you've heard, the Immigration and Naturalization Service is not the most efficient of government entities) we had a late lunch at my Mom's favorite restaurant. It was a fine way to end such a wonderful afternoon.

Star Wars Exhibit

While driving to work a couple of weeks ago Aaron noticed a billboard referencing a Star Wars exhibit at the Fort Worth Museum of Science. Nicholas, Carter and their cousins Thomas and Phillip are all fans of Star Wars so Aaron thought it would be fun to have a boy's day out. Although Eric is not familiar with the movies, he was invited to come along.


The exhibit included many of the props and costumes used in the production of the films. Here are the boys in front of the Sand People costumes from Episode IV. Here is Carter in front of Luke Skywalker's Land Speeder. Uhhh, Carter?!?!?! You are supposed to be interested in cars first, then girls. And that isn't to happen for another twelve or thirteen years....
